7. Exeter Energy Grant

Get help to reduce your energy bills with a grant of up to £1000 to make your home more energy efficient.

In April 2022, the Government launched the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to support its Levelling Up agenda.

The Exeter Energy Grant is funded through our UKSPF allocation. The grant will support residents wishing to upgrade their homes to improve energy efficiency and to reduce energy bills.

This grant meets the "Community and Places" investment priority by helping residents lower their carbon emissions and energy bills. As a council we are working towards Net Zero by 2030.

The aim of this grant is to improve the warmth and comfort of homes across the city. This will also reduce energy bills, carbon emissions and levels of fuel poverty. Our aim is to improve the least energy efficient homes in Exeter.  

 

Priorities of the grant scheme

A grant of £1,000 is available for those that own or rent a home in Exeter to make their home more energy efficient. Please note that social housing is not eligible. Works could include:

  • Buying new LED Light bulbs
  • Window replacements
  • Draught proofing
  • Radiator reflector panels
  • Double glazing
  • Loft insulation
  • Insulation of hot water tanks and pipes
  • Boiler servicing
  • Thermostatic radiator valves

 

Eligibility Criteria

The grant will support homes most in need, particularly those that may not be eligible for the other support government. 

  • The house being upgraded is within postcodes EX1 / EX2 / EX3 / EX4.
  • Any household with an income less than £34,174 for a one person household or £68,348 for a two person household is eligible.
  • Your home should have an Energy Performance rating under 10 years old, of either D, E, F, or G. The advice on the EPC will be taken into account when the decision is made as to support the application or not.
  • A maximum of £1,000 can be claimed per household.

Additional information

For applications that meet the eligibility criteria above, funding will be provided on a first come first served basis. Applications will be assessed in terms of carbon reduction potential of the proposed measures, cost and feasibility of delivery.  Funding will only be provided for energy efficiency related works.

If providing an invoice, it must be addressed to where the works have been undertaken and where you live.

The grant will close either when the total grant allocation has been spent or March 2025.

You will need to supply the following:

  • Your latest 2 payslip(s).
  • The latest EPC rating certificate for your home.
  • Details of the work to be undertaken, and estimate of costs.

We will contact you to confirm your grant and you will be sent an Approval Notice.  

  • Once works have been completed, receipts for works undertaken or products purchased need to be submitted. If providing an invoice, it must be addressed to where the works have been undertaken and where you live.
  • Evidence to be provided of works provided, such as an image of works
  • Your grant (up to a maximum of £1000) will be credited to the bank account given on your application form.
