6. Warm spaces and community facilities

St Sidwell’s Community Centre

The centre is cooking big batches of food, freezing it to distribute it to people who may be in need - please ask a member of staff or visit the St Sidwell's Community Centre website.

Libraries Unlimited

Libraries around Devon and Torbay will be offering warm welcoming spaces along with groups, resources and facilities to help people all over Devon and Torbay struggling in the cost of living crisis this winter.

10:00 – 12:00 - The Beacon Centre - Activities: Craft and Chat/ Pool/ Puzzles/ Hot drinks (Donation appreciated)

Tuesday

09:30 - 16:30 - A warm welcome: The Northcott at the Barnfield Theatre: A free hot drink and a space to keep warm in the centre of Exeter. There are toys, books, games and friendly staff for conversation!
14.00 – 16.00 - Dorothy Holman Youth and Community Centre, Topsham. Drop in session for the over 50s, where you can have a hot drink, play games, table tennis or just have a chat. Free f charge, can make a small donation but 100% optional.

Wednesday

10.00 - 12.00: Wonford Community Learning Centre - Community café - low cost hot drinks and breakfast menu, book swap, library.
10.00 - 16.00: The Exeter Quaker Social Café, Wynards lane, Off Magdalen Street - Free WiFi. Quiet work space and friendly cafe. Free hot drinks and biscuits, free soup lunch. Friendly company.
10:30 - 11:30 (starting 11 Jan) - Park Life Seniors Coffee Cake and Chat at Park Cafe & Hub, Heavitree Pleasure Ground: A relaxed morning meet up for hot drinks and chat in the Hub. Come in, keep warm and meet other over 60s. All welcome. 
12:00 - 17:00 - Sylvania Community Stores and Cafe Warm Space Afternoon: Offering a friendly welcome, an affordable hot drink (free if the resident is experiencing hardship – we just need to know in advance), colouring activities, board games, conversation, tasty cakes and an offer to support our super new project.

Thursday

14:00 - 15:30 (Jan, Feb and Mar 23 only) - 100 Club Community Group, 100 Club, Wear Barton road, Countess Wear. Tea, coffee biscuits.  People to bring their own amusements eg. books, games.

Alphington Village Hall - Chatterbox Café – Every Friday (not 23 & 30 Dec) morning till early March, for tea/coffee/cake/warmth. Sit and chat with members of the local community.

(Every 2nd Sat of the Month) - Headway Devon, The XCentre, Commercial Road: Free tea and coffee and opportunities to meet and chat with others.
10:30 - 13:00'Wonford Welcome' at Wonford Methodist Church. Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits are free and there are hot snacks available from 50p. There are board games and free weekly activities such as arts/crafts and quizzes.

Sunday

16:00 - 18:00 (29 Jan & 26 Feb)'Mini Messy Church' at Exwick Community Church.  A warm space and a hot meal for families with children in the Exwick area, primarily. We put on 'Messy Church' every second Sunday of the month in the Exwick Parish Hall - fun, crafts, activities, singing, Bible story and a hot meal - and are planning several extra events on the fourth Sundays.
