Housing Access Together (HAT)

Are you a landlord looking for a good tenant?

We can save you time and reduce the hassle of finding a tenant. If you want to avoid ever-increasing letting agent’s fees and advertising costs, our private rented sector scheme offers a completely free service for landlords.

Our Housing Access Together (HAT) scheme matches landlords with available properties of any type or size with households who need help to find private rented accommodation in Exeter and the surrounding area.

Housing Access Together (HAT) Scheme

Our vision is to create sustainable tenancies that work for landlords and tenants. Our generous incentive package offers a competitive range of financial and other benefits:

1. Up-front cash incentives to landlords

For letting a property in partnership with us

2. Deposit and rent in advance

Rapid payment processing to minimise delays in letting your property

3. Find the right tenant for your property

Tenants are matched to your property following a comprehensive suitability and affordability assessment

4. Guidance on legal obligations

Meeting rental regulations can be tricky and requires knowledge of many pieces of legislation - we can advise you on anything you need to know

5. Ongoing support for landlords and tenants

You will have our support for the period of the tenancy if you have any queries or problems

6. Full control over who moves into your property

We will introduce you to good tenants but you will be under no obligation to offer them a tenancy

… And much more!

Landlord Testimonials

“I have let my properties through the Council and I am very impressed by the friendly and professional manner of the Housing Access Team staff who provide an excellent service and are a delight to work with. They introduce tenants who are suitable for the landlord. Knowing that tenants and landlords are supported with the application process and assisted if required throughout the tenancy is reassuring and invaluable.” Landlord, J.S.

"I have worked with Exeter City Council as a private sector landlord for over 10 years and have found the process to be a very positive one. From procedures for example such as tenant selection, tenancy support, property inspections etc. I've always felt reassured that these are dealt with in a professional manner, particularly given the ever increasing legislative requirements that the private sector has seen in recent years.”  Landlord, N.T-G.
