The Topsham CharterTopsham was first documented as a Roman settlement. In the 11th century it was given by the King to the Minster church in Exeter. The boundaries of the land granted by the King later became the bounds of the parish of Topsham, which have remained unaltered since the early Middle Ages. It is possible to trace Topsham’s ancient boundary through modern maps. The original document which recorded the boundary has not survived, but several documents of this type survive in Exeter Cathedral Library.
