Local land charges

1. What is a local authority search?

Local authority searches form part of the conveyancing process when buying and selling houses. They make sure that buyers of properties are not caught out by obligations on those properties. Searches are submitted by solicitors to find out what land charges and restrictions there are on a particular property or piece of land within Exeter's boundary.

For details about private land ownership, title deeds and title plans please search the Land Registry register.
