Now in its third year, Exeter Open Studios is growing, with 41 artists and two additional artist groups opening their doors to the public for three days in November. Part of the city's Autumn Festival, this exciting, creative event is supported by the City Council.

The annual event showcases the diversity and richness of Exeter's many makers and creators. A range of different art forms will be on display in studios and artists homes across the city, including painting, ceramic work, sculpture, mosaic, textiles, jewellery, photography, printmaking and mixed media work.

As well as visiting the artists in their own environment, there will be a virtual display of all the artists' work at Exeter Phoenix during the three days. The public can get a taste of the range of work on offer and pick up information about the artists who are exhibiting.

Last year it is estimated that over 2,500 people attended the event, contributing over £18,000 worth of sales for Exeter's thriving art and crafts community. This was a 30% increase from the previous year with 80% of the artists selling work

Feedback from the public events has always been very enthusiastic. One visitor to the 2007 event said:

'the quality of the art is extremely high and supporting local artist is and has always been important. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The artists were so welcoming and we felt we could enjoy the artwork in an unpressured way. A fantastic event, we only wish we had more time to visit other studios.'
