More info about the journey

If you're collecting for a charity you'll need to know the registered charity number.

You'll need to know the name of the treasurer or secretary of the organisation.

When we receive your application we'll check it to make sure it's been completed correctly.  We'll telephone you if there is anything else we need.

We'll send you the house-to-house collection permit in the post. The permit will show:

  • the name and address of the organisation you are collecting for
  • the dates the permit is valid for
  • the collection areas authorised
  • the maximum number of collectors allowed

We will also send you a certificate for the information of HM Stationery Office. You will then need to order the certificates of authorisation and badges for your collectors.

Please be aware that it is an offence for any collector to collect without having in his or her possession the required signed authority and badge.

When you've carried out the collection you'll need to fill in and send us a return giving an account of monies raised.  You'll need to supply us with a return for the house-to-house collection within one month of the collection.
