Rubbish - collections

The majority of residents in Exeter receive fortnightly collections for rubbish - this means one week rubbish is collected, and the following week recycling is collected. Some residents receive weekly rubbish collections due to lack of storage - they are generally located in and around the City centre.

Putting out your containers

To help keep Exeter tidy, it is important that you are able to store your containers on your property between collections. We ask that you put out your rubbish no earlier than 6.00 pm the evening before collection, and no later than 6.00 am on collection days. Our Find out when your bin is collected page will let you know when your next collection is and allow you to download your calendar.

On collection days, please leave your container at the designated collection point for your property. We will not be able to return for rubbish that is not put out in this way.

Public holidays

Our Find out when your bin is collected page is automatically updated to include changes to collection schedules following public holidays.

Assisted waste collections

If you are not able to take your rubbish to your collection point on collection days, you can apply for Assisted waste collections, provided you meet certain criteria.
