The Council is preparing a Local Development Framework (LDF) to guide the development of the City in the period up to 2026. The timetable for the preparation of documents can be found in the Local Development Scheme. Until the LDF is adopted the Council's planning policies are the saved policies of the Exeter Local Plan adopted in 2005. The Exeter City Council Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD) has been adopted, but policies in the 2005 Local Plan will not be fully replaced until the Site Allocations and Development Management DPD has been adopted. Planning policies for the City are prepared in accordance with Strategic Guidance provided by Central and Regional Government. The City and adjoining areas are in the Exeter and East Devon New Growth Point. Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD's) are prepared where necessary to amplify Exeter Local Plan and LDF policies. Additional Guidance is provided giving informal or specialist advice or drawing attention to Council proposals. Existing and emerging policies are supported by a detailed Evidence Base. The Annual Monitoring Report is produced to review progress with the preparation and implementation of planning policies.
