The Council is preparing a Local Development Framework (LDF) required by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. This will progressively replace the Local Plan First Review as the document setting out the planning policies for the City. The City Council has published a Local Development Scheme (LDS) which specifies the documents that will form the LDF and sets out the timetable for their preparation and has also adopted a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) to explain how the Council will engage with the community and allow for participation in the new system. A Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD) has been prepared following extensive public consultation and an examination into the legal tests of soundness by an independent planning inspector at the Core Strategy Examination. The Core Strategy sets out the broad strategy for development of the City in the period up to 2026. Supplementary Planning Documents are prepared to amplify LDF and Local Plan First Review policies. The LDF is being prepared in accordance with Strategic Guidance provided by current regional and national Government and LDF policies are supported by a detailed Evidence Base. The Annual Monitoring Report reviews progress with the preparation and implementation of planning policies. |
