School admissions

Making an application for a school place.

Admission to schools in Exeter is the responsibility of either Devon County Council or the Governing Body depending upon the type of school.

The County Council is the admitting authority for Community and Voluntary Controlled schools. Day to day administration is normally undertaken by Head teachers at primary schools. Secondary school admissions are normally undertaken by staff in the Divisional Education Offices in conjunction with the Principals/Head teachers.

The Governing Body is the admitting authority for Foundation and Voluntary Aided Schools.

For more information on school admission visit Schools Admissions & Transfers - Devon County Council.
