Community Safety Partnership Community Safety Partnership

Exeter Community Safety Partnership

The Partnership was established following the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
This Act placed a joint responsibility on Local Authorities as well as the Police to reduce crime and disorder in local areas.
Here in Exeter there has been a long history of close working between the City Council and the Police, so the Partnership was able to build on good existing links.

Priorities

In November 2012 the Exeter Community Safety Partnership (Exeter CSP) agreed the following as priorities for the city:

  • Domestic, family and sexual abuse
  • Alcohol, violence and the night time economy
  • Anti-social behaviour
  • Reoffending

The Exeter CSP also agreed that work should be done to assess the true impact of hate crime on our communities, to improve understanding of issues for vulnerable groups and to improve reporting.
