This city centre theatre presents a varied programme of theatre and music events both in the main auditorium and in the Clifford Room. Clare Teal is the patron of this theatre and is a popular artist who regularly returns to perform here. Regular events include a monthly Open Mic Night (first Friday of every month), Monkey Music (for small children) and drama classes for older children.
The Cygnet Training Theatre Company trains a group of actors aged between 18 - 35 years. These young people are chosen for their special abilities so that the acting standard is very high. They perform a varied programme of public performances throughout the year at the Cygnet Theatre and also at Poltimore House. Studies lead to graduation. The Bike Shed Theatre
The Bike Shed Theatre was founded in February 2010 by two graduates of the Cygnet Training Theatre Company. Programmes feature a range of work, from full production of brand new plays to major revivals, from music to comedy to dance. This contemporary arts venue presents a varied programme of live music events, dance, theatre, live art, spoken word, film and visual art. Regular events include Jazz Nights, Jumping Beans (weekly activity classes for 2 - 5 year olds in term time only), Messy Beans (a weekly creative art session for under 5s) art and jewellery classes, photography and film events. There is a Quiz Night on the last Wednesday of the month.
