The largest of the Valley Parks, it stretches from Cowley Bridge to Topsham Ferry

Introduction

The park itself extends for several miles through the city forming part of a major wildlife highway linking Exmoor to the sea.

The character of the park changes down its length, becoming more informal and richer in wildlife. There are some fine circular walks with longer routes for the more ambitious walker.

The River Exe and its floodplain have always been vital to the wellbeing of Exeter. In the past the Exe Valley was the main trade route bringing wealth and power to the City.

The Valley still contributes to the quality of life in Exeter; providing green open space a short distance from the City's commercial centre and close to where people live and work.

Getting Around the Park

The cycle way and most footpaths are surfaced and provide level routes around the area.  There are several attractive 'circular' walks to choose from with longer walks leading to the estuary and the coast.  Many of the footpaths are suitable for pushchair and wheelchair access.  Feel free to wander, but please do not stray onto private land (see leaflet). Toilets are available at the Quay and the Double Locks.

• Bus Stops along Topsham Road or to Marsh Barton
• An easy 15 minutes walk from the City Centre
• A cycle way from Exwick and the City Centre
• Several well-placed car parks
• By boat from the estuary
