Council Tax Support

Council Tax Benefit has been abolished.

CTsupport Image From 1 April 2013 the responsibility for providing support to Exeter residents now rests with Exeter City Council. The cut in government funding means Exeter has to save over £1 million in the first year alone.

Everyone, apart from pensioners (who are protected by law), will have to pay something towards their council tax bill, with few exceptions.

From 6 August to 1 October we held a consultation to ask for your views on our proposed scheme. Thank you to everyone who contacted us. The result of this consultation can be viewed here: doc icon Consultation report [3Mb].

You can view our full scheme summary for pensioners and working age applicants here: doc icon Final full scheme summary April 2013 [211kb].

If you receive Council Tax Support, you are of working age and you are in a vulnerable financial situation you may be able to receive short-term assistance from our Council Tax Support - Exceptional Hardship Fund (EHF)
