Council housing - Tenant Census 2013

In our Local Offers we promised to keep all information about you up to date so we can tailor our services to meet your needs. The census helps us do this.

Why are we doing a 'Census'?

The information we collect will allow us to plan and adapt services to meet your diverse needs and helps improve your experience as a customer.

Why should I fill in and return my Tenant Census Form?

The last Tenant Census was completed in 2007 and we would like to make sure the information we hold is correct so we can contact you in an emergency and provide information in the right way.

The census also helps you in a variety of other ways. In 2007, 1,625 households told us that they considered someone in their home to be disabled. This allowed us to adapt our working practices to meet those needs, for example, asking officers to wait longer at the front door. This information also told us who required letters in large print so these could be printed as standard.

Complete it Online!

To make it even easier to fill in your Tenant Census 2013, you can now do this online.

Alternatively, please phone Neighbourhood Management on 01392 265033 and they can complete this over the phone with you.

How we will use this Information

The information we are collecting in Sections A, B, D and E will be held by Housing Services and used to ensure that:

  • the correct information is present against your tenancy;
  • we can contact you in emergency;
  • your home is not overcrowded;
  • you receive information in the best format for you.

We may pass this information to other services to ensure you are provided with the best possible support.

The information collected under Section C is being collected because we have a legal duty to ensure all services are provided on a fair and equal basis. This information will be confidential on our systems (the officers you speak to on a regular basis will not be able to see your ethnic background, religion, economic status, household income or sexual orientation) and will be used only to ensure fairness and to monitor service satisfaction. Information on any disabilities you may have will help us further tailor our services to meet your needs. Housing Services do, however, appreciate that some areas such as sexual orientation are very sensitive for many people and you do not have to answer any questions you do not wish to. We will not share this information.

Please note that we will not pass your details to any external bodies unless we are legally obliged to do so.
