Exeter City Council has prepared a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) providing detailed guidance in support of policy DG1 in the Exeter Local Plan First Review and the replacement policy in the emerging Local Development Framework Core Strategy. The SPD is designed to provide information to all those involved in the development process about the standard of design that Exeter City Council requires for new residential development proposals. It is based on the premise that good quality residential design is beneficial to developers, residents and the community as a whole.

The public consultation period for this SPD closed on the 4th August. The City Council are currently reviewing responses and amending the draft document before presenting it to Councillors in September. This web page will be updated with the revised document at the end of September 2010.
