What we do with your feedback

On every page of our web site, we offer a simple way for you to rate that page using 'faces' like the ones at the bottom of this page. It's an effective way to find out what works and what doesn't, and what needs to be improved.

We register on average 63,000 visits to our website each month and from this we receive over 700 ratings for our web pages. Of these 50% of the feedback rates the website as good to average but we do recognise that 50% of the rating we receive is poor. Web comment information is used to correct and improve the content of pages, ensuring that customers get the correct information from the web quickly and easily. When you rate a page, we ask you to provide further information - this ensures we concentrate on areas most in need of improvement or lets us know where we are getting things right. We look at every comment we receive and try to act on them as soon as we can.

Most of the time we are able to make changes almost immediately, but  there are times when we will be required to do more work before we can put things right.

We welcome and encourage all customers who deal with the City Council whether it is face to face, on the telephone or on the web, to let us know how they feel about the service.

Cleansing clean up student confusion

It became apparent that students were finding it difficult to obtain information on when they needed to put their rubbish out, were having difficulties finding out what could and couldn't be recycled, with a common complaint being that they couldn't find the opening times for the recycling Centre at Exton Road. Our cleansing department worked closely with Exeter University to  build a web page tailored for students. This web page contains every thing the students need to know about rubbish collections and Recycling collections with various hyperlinks to specific information such as  Students on the move. A remind me button has been created on this site which means students can sign up by using their post code and email details, they will then be emailed 24hrs before they are due to put their rubbish or recycling out to remind them to do it.

The outcome of this work has improved the rubbish and recycling collection for students, we receive far less negative comments through Govmetric on our website, with a reduction in students contacting the council enquiring about recycling and rubbish collection.

"My Exeter"

Information such as the nearest schools, doctors, recycling banks, rubbish collection days and much more is updated on a daily basis.
