Building regulations information - re-roofingContact Us
Follow UsSince April 2006, when the current edition of Approved Document L came into force, it has been a requirement to submit a building regulations application for re-roofing work. The aim of requirement L is to reduce energy use in buildings. One of the key changes introduced by the new Part L is to thermally upgrade existing buildings where possible, for example with a re-roof. Applications are required for any re-roofing work where 25% or more of the roof's covering is being refurbished. This includes a strip and re-roof and even just the addition of a new waterproofing layer. In most cases, the work will require the provision of new or additional thermal insulation in order to meet the required "U" value and comply with the regulations.
