Gambling Act 2005 - club gaming permit

This is applicable to member's clubs, miner's welfare institutes and for commercial clubs. You may wish to apply for a club gaming permit if you only intend to provide gaming machines,equal chance gaming and games of chance. You may have 3 gaming machines of categories B3A, B4, C and D. Only one B3A machine is permitted on the premises. Any existing registration certificates under parts 2 and 3 of the Gaming Act 1968 will be able to operate until those certificates expire.

If you hold a Club Premises Certificate you may apply for a club gaming permit under the 'fast track' procedure. 

In order to apply for a club gaming permit you will need to:

  • Submit the application form to the Licensing Authority (if you are an existing registration certificate holder you will need to also submit a copy of the registration certificate).
  • If you do not hold a club premises certificate and therefore are not applying under the 'fast track' procedure you will need to submit copies of the application to the Gambling Commission and the Police within 7 days of making the application.
  • 'Fast track' applicants only need to apply to the Licensing Authority. 
  • Submit the appropriate fee (see below)

Please note: A club gaming permit is subject to an annual fee which is payable within 30 days after the application is made and then annually thereafter.
