Play Areas

There are 72 equipped play areas spread across the City which are maintained and managed by Exeter City Council.

The play area sites provide a range of play activities, and cater for children from toddlers to teenagers as well as families.

Play area refurbishments

We are always trying to improve our play facilities and have an ongoing refurbishment programme that aims to improve and update as many existing play areas as possible. During these challenging financial times budgets are limited and do not have the resources  available that we have known in previous years. However we aim to use what money that is available at the highest priority sites and thereby maintain a good standard of play area right across the city.

New play facilities

Please make sure that you use the play areas in a safe manner. Whilst all precautions have been taken by ECC, it is up to users to ensure their own safety. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Many have equipment such as swings, climbing frames, paddling pools, adventure trails, slides, rockers, picnic tables. For further information about play areas contact the Parks Department using the details on the right.

It would be appreciated if you would report any damaged or unsafe equipment to the Play Equipment Officer
