Fire safety

Show all parts of this guide

1. How we protect you from fire

Your wellbeing and your safety at home are the two things that matter most to us.

As your landlord we have a legal duty of care to manage fire safety within blocks of flats containing communal areas.

We work closely with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services and our fire experts to maximise prevention and protection of fire events within these premises. Your safety is our priority.

Our prevention and protection include (but not limited to) measures such as;

  • Smoke detectors / Fire Alarms
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Fire Resistant doors
  • Signage and instructions
  • Clear and Safe Policy to keep communal areas safe and clear for evacuation

If fire safety equipment is tampered with or vandalised (either inside your home or in the common areas) it may not work properly. If this happens the safety of everyone, either living or visiting the block and your possessions are at risk.

If you think, at any time, that any fire safety equipment in any homes or blocks might have been tampered with, is not present or is working, Please call us immediately on 01392 265031 or email us on housing.repairs@exeter.gov.uk or via our Tenant Portal .
