What is Exeter Arts Council?

It is an independent group funded by the City Council. Its members are drawn from the major arts and cultural organisations in the City.

What does it do?

It encourages creative activities in Exeter, from both individuals and groups, by providing financial support. This can be in the form of grants or guarantees against loss.

We fund

  • Arts events and activities taking place in Exeter.
  • Events to which the general public has access.
  • Fees or travelling expenses for visiting artists.
  • All art forms, events, performances, exhibitions, workshops … provided    that they benefit people in Exeter.

How do I apply?

Print and fill out the online application form and mail it to the appropriate department.

Exeter Arts Council meet every two months and your application will normally be considered at the next meeting.

Applications will be considered up to a maximum of £1000, but most grants are smaller.

We can't fund

  • Work solely within the formal education sector.
  • Arts organisations already receiving regular funding from Exeter City Council.
  • Applicant's personal travel expenses - e.g. trips abroad.
  • Applicant's personal wages.
  • Organisations fund-raising on behalf of charities.
  • Hospitality - e.g. wine for private views.
